Lekker, but short sleep on the plane to Heathrow from New York on Sunday after the rugby, back in London on Monday, a walk in the park, really, with Charlotte’s lovely Rudy, then off to a wonderful dinner in the Barry Room of The House of Lords. A fabulous treat by Lord Russel and The Lady Charlotte Rook. Spotted (again) oom Jannie Smuts in the company of Churchill and Lloyd George outside Westminster in Parliament Square.
At dinner Russell mentions he’s got one of his season tickets available for the Manchester United Carabao Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. in Manchester on Wednesday. So, off I go!
Man U lost, but so what! It was an amazing day in and around Old Trafford, especially witnessing the die hard fans before the game going all out in the Bishops Blaze pub.
I also go to spend a great afternoon in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, with sights and sounds all around, for a little bit of a glimpse into what makes Manchester tick.
Then it was back to London, straight to Heathrow and back with my Fudgie in Joburg.
What a trip.
