On the fast train to Baltimore I met a fellow South African. The impressive entrepreneur Kieron Phillips, founder and CEO of Xtreme Nutrition SA needed a better seat and found himself opposite me. We chatted a bit and quickly realised we knew many of the same people. Arriving at Baltimore Penn Station was all a bit of a rush, with Uber catching to do etc, so I never actually said cheerio, but maybe we meet for a coffee again someday. Did get a quick selfie though.
What a magical day it turned out to be in Baltimore at the massive, impressive M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, a professional American football team. And literally just meters away from the famous major league baseball team the Baltimore Orioles.
From far outside the stadium is was already clear, today was Springbok Day. I guess about 80% of the 68 000 strong audience wore the green and gold. In fact, inside it felt just like Loftus on a good day! No wonder the city was quickly renamed Baltfontein on social.
There were some All Blacks supporters too, in a few rows behind me there a scatterlings of Kiwis, but in the main, this was Springbok territory.
And did the Boks deliver! Yes, they did. A brilliant day in Baltimore and well worth the race to get there. Truly special. So glad I made a plan to be there on the day.
Then it was a late night stroll through the city back to the station for my overnight, before heading to back to New York. Tired some? No man. Exhausted!
