A somber 9/11 remembrance day

I am enjoying a typical, traditional New York diner breakfast when the livestream screen chyron updates. The first plane (American Airlines Flight 11) hit the North Tower at 8:46 a.m on 9/11 2001. I glance at my watch. It displays 08:46. Twenty five years ago. Exactly. At the streamed memorial all living presidents are present. Bar one. On his own, solitary stage Yo-Yo Ma gets ready. As family members remember, he starts playing. A chilling moment to be present in New York.

Also, MoMA, the best (and only) ping pong palour I’ve ever seen. Called Spin, the name says it all. All  needed was a parter for the game of a lifetime. Also, lunch! And a street named after Damon Runyon, I think. And a massive magazine café. Definitely only in New York.
